How do you calculate bill rates?

Bill rates are based upon the hourly rate of the temporary employee. In addition, we include the cost of all employers’ responsible taxes, including SUTA, FUTA, Workers Compensation and unemployment insurance. In addition, we add a marginal amount tot his base to cover all administrative expenses including a drug test and background checks. Unlike the "freelancer", the temporary agency is responsible for being the employer of record and is responsible for paying the employee

What is a temp?

We are the employer of record, handle all taxes/W-2

When should we use a temp?

Temporary employees are hired to assist employers to meet business demands yet allow the employer to avoid the cost of hiring a regular employee.  Sometimes, it is the expectation of the employer that if the temporary employee is successful, the temporary employee will be hired.

Most frequently, though, hiring temporary employees serves a business purpose for the company and the objective is to hire temps rather than taking on the cost of a regular employee.  Business purposes include:  seasonal customer demand, temporary surges in manufacturing orders, employees on sick or maternity leave, and short-term, clearly defined work such as a census worker.

Temporary employees allow employers to maintain a cushion of some job security in employment for regular workers.  The temporary employees can be let go first in a business or economic downturn.

Temporary employees work part or full-time.  The rarely receive benefits or the job security afforded regular staff.  A temporary assignment can end at any time depending on the employer’s needs.  In other ways temporary employees are often treated like regular employees and attend company meetings and events.

What is your testing process?

At Staffing Solutions, Inc. all candidates go thru comprehensive testing based on the type of position they are being considered for. A customized battery has been developed for each skill set that we provide temporary employees for. In addition, all Staffing Solutions, Inc. temporaries are administered a personality profile that measures 14 characteristics as to how they relate to the workplace.

What happens if we bring someone in for a long leave like maternity and they get a full time job?

Many temporary employees do temporary work to support a job search for full time employment. Should one of our temporary workers obtain full time employment while covering a medical or similar leave, the Staffing Solutions Inc. team requires a reasonable notice period to allow us to submit a mutually accepted replacement and the temporary vacating the position will be responsible for training the replacement temporary employee at NO COST to the employer.

What is protocol if we have a company function, should we invite the temp?

Our years of experience tell us that if you treat your temporary employees as a valued member of the team. The temporary employee is more likely to produce at their highest level. Therefore, we encourage our clients to include temporary employees at company functions unless confidentiality is a factor.

How can we on-board successfully? 

Train, Train, Train! The best temporary employee is the trained temporary. Please ensure there is a staff member dedicated initially to focus training at the start of the temporary assignment and someone designated along the way to continue to be a resource for questions or support. Additionally, Staffing Solutions, Inc. provides training guides for our temporaries to take extensive notes. Please contact your Staffing Solutions, Inc. representative for a free copy of our helpful training guide "Welcome to my Desk".

Can I see resumes? Can I interview? Who schedules the interviews?

We encourage our clients to work with our staff to determine the best match of temporary employee to your assignment request. Therefore, you are welcome to review resumes for potential candidates, interview candidates for evaluating fit, and of course the Staffing Solutions, Inc. staff coordinates the entire interview for you!
